Being You

May 16, 2011

Have you ever wondered why you have the life that everyone does not have? Have you ever wondered why the person is having an iPhone, while you're still clinging onto your 3310 that your father gave on your 12th birthday? Have you ever wondered how good is the taste of a smoked lamb with slices of fresh lemons shown on AFC, when your are at home, only eating a plate of half-cooked rice, with a plain, boring omelette sprinkled with sweet, cold soy sauce? Have you ever wondered how does it's like to breath the winter air, while standing in a middle of an empty suburban road somewhere in Hamburg, holding a freshly brewed cappuccino, while you are standing under a crowded, filthy bus stand on a freaking hot, almost burning afternoon sunlight, waiting for the 'Rahmat Alam' bus to come?

Have you ever wondered why Allah made you live in a family of fifteen in a box, slum-like house deep in the rural area, where the Internet connection is almost impossible? Have you ever wondered? Yes, I am always wondering why my life is never as good as others. "There are only two kinds of people in this world: the one tested with wealth, and the other one tested with poverty, and the one tested with wealth is the most dangerous type of people of all", said my mum.

Indeed, our life is a test. A test that will determine whether we are are able to go through every possible challenges in our life or not. World is temporary. If you take world for granted, you will regret it later. Comparing yourself with others is a dumb thing to do. It's is already written up there, that you are meant to live your life. Your only task is to make your life better, so improvement is what you have to strive for.

There is no use to complain and to whine about how sucks your life is, how little money you have, how this, how that, because you will waste your time in his world. You ain't live forever. Maybe there is no tomorrow for you, so seize your life today. Repent before it is too late. There must be a reason why Allah creates your life like that. Allah is not cruel to torture His own creation. Keep up a good rapport with Allah, your Creator. Only through this way, you will have the solid armour to protect yourself from all the lies, all the temporary sadnesses, all the never-lasting happinesses in this World.

If you are the one tested with wealth, helps the unfortunate, praise Allah for everything He gave to you, and spend the money wisely for good causes. Wealth is dangerous, it can kills you, if you devote too much upon it. If you are the one tested with poverty, have a thinking that there are others out there who suffers more than you, do not whine, never compare yourself with others, and always, always praise Allah for giving you the greatest gift a mankind would ever wish for, Islam. If you are reading this right now, you know you are fortunate. Alhamdulillah :)
